I am pleased to announce that the Lady Brooksie Mod for Skyrim v1.0.0 is now available for download via Skyrim Nexus and Steam Workshop.

This mod adds a follower named Lady Brooksie. She is an assassin and a member of the Dark Brotherhood faction.

I recently purchased The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from Steam. One of the first things I do when I purchase a new PC game is scour the Internet looking for tweak guides in an effort to optimize performance. Below you will find links to many of the guides I found useful.

I should note that I am using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560Ti from EVGA, so most of this information will not be useful to those with AMD/ATi GPUs.

Weird interior shadow glitch (not shifting shadows, but that sucks too)

I realize that most of these links are to geforce.com. If these resources don’t work out, you can expect that I will update this post with alternative links.

Update: I added a link to a post on Reddit regarding a shadow glitch. One of the comments suggested modifying fShadowBiasScale and iShadowMaskQuarter in SkyrimPrefs.ini. I did this, and the glitch was substantially reduced.

Update: I added a link to a post on the Nexus forums that contains information on how to adjust the interval between light source movement.

Dragon Age II is disappointing to say the least. I have no problem with the new, stylized look, the modifications to combat, or the lack of companion customization. Where I take issue with Dragon Age II is the lack of a strong narrative thread, the repetitive, recycled maps, and the prosaic, unimaginative environments and bestiary. Ultimately, the few high points in this game do not make up for its shortcomings.

I’m nearly finish with Act I and I believe I have finally settled on a well rounded group of companions. There’s Anders as a healer, Alexia (my Hawke character) as a damager, Aveline as a tank, and Merrill as a damager.

Dark Souls - Final Boss: Gwyn, Lord of Cinder

There are a number of ways to best Gwyn. Given that I am not adept at parrying, I chose a tank approach. Here, I am level 78, wearing the Paladin Armor Set +5, the Grass Crest Shield, the Ring of Steel Protection, the Flame Stoneplate Ring, and wielding a Fire Great Scythe +10. I also took advantage of the extra protection provided by the Iron Flesh pyromancy.

After defeating Gwyn, you are given the chance to acquire one of two achievements depending on the ending you choose. If you light the bonfire, you receive the ‘To Link the Fire” achievement. If you do not light the bonfire, and instead leave the are, you receive the “Dark Lord” achievement. I chose the former.

Dark Souls - Boss: Ornstein and Smough

Make no mistake, this is a tough battle. Concentrate all of your effort on one boss because, once the first falls, the second will become enhanced and replenish all of its health. Ranged attacks and attacks that include fire seem particularly effective. I attempted this battle at least 15 times before finally achieving victory. I could not have done it without the aid of SlappySlap86. He was instrumental in distracting, and later defeating Smough. Thanks man!

Dark Souls - Boss: Taurus Demon

The Taurus Demon is found in the Undead Burg. There is a tick to beating this boss that involves using one of the towers to execute a falling attack.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Jaron Namir Boss Battle (Highest Difficulty)

This is the third boss battle in Deus Ex: Human Revolution with Jaron Namir. Winning this battle grants “The Snake” achievement.

I am playing on the highest difficulty setting, “Give Me Deus Ex”, and I am speced for stealth, hacking, the Typhoon Explosive System, and Dermal Armor with EMP shielding.

I have not upgraded my bio-chip. This is important because if you do upgrade your bio-chip, you will not be able to use augmentations in this battle.

I realized, after the previous two boss battles, that the simplest approach would be to use EMP mines followed by several blasts from the Typhoon Explosive System. Sure enough, Namir went down without incident.

I completed Deus Ex: Human Revolution shortly after recording this video. If you are interested, I also have videos featuring the Hyron Project / Zhao Yun Ru Boss Battle and the post-credits secret ending.
